Q: What is a Hetzner Snapshot?

A Hetzner Snapshot is a point-in-time copy of a Hetzner Cloud server or volume. It captures the state of the server or volume at a specific moment, including the operating system, installed software, and data. Snapshots are useful for creating backups, restoring to a previous state, or migrating to a different server or volume.

Q: Where are my Hetzner Snapshots stored?

Hetzner Snapshots are stored on the Hetzner Cloud platform. They are stored in the same data center as the server or volume from which the snapshot was created.

Q: How does Snapshot works?

We have developed connectors to a list of infrastructure providers (DigitalOcean, AWS, ...). This allows us to trigger some of their core functionalities which includes creating snapshot of servers and volumes.
